You can support the beauties of diversity and culture and sometimes help a non-profi organization by going to a festival, expo, or other fabulous Houston event.  When you go out and bring the family to enjoy Houston restaurants, music, and vendors, you help the community to become prosperous and more unified.  Here are some of our favorite places to go...

The Turkish Festival gets bigger and better every year.  The ATA (American Turkish Association) started many year's ago getting Turkey to be the chosen country for the Houston International Festival.  Now they have their own every year.  Enjoy great Turkish food, belly dancing, Turkish wares, wonderful music, and lots of fun for the kiddies!  This year, the big date is Saturday, October 28 at Bayou Plaza across from Jones Hall, downtown.

Houston has many wonderful restaurants, but our favorites include the many different facets of Chef Youssef Nafaa:  Mia Bella on Main downtown or Lexington, Saffron Moroccan cuisine, Cava Bistro at Main & Congress downtown, and Coco for crepes and cafe in the midtown.  There are many more delights coming, but visit their website at http://www.bellarestaurants.com and then visit the delight of your choice!  Mangia, mangia!

Houston has its renowned Orange Show, a not so flashy but inventive construction by folk artist Jefferson Davis McKissack completed in 1979, a Houston postal worker.  But his vision and the desire to keep such creativity alive inspired the true legend of flash and dash, the world of Art Cars.  Every year the Art Car parade in Houston offers a spectacle of more than 200 hand decorated vehicles in every shape, size, and subject you can imagine.  Whimsical or political, the art cars keep rolling on, thanks to the Orange Show.  The Art Car Ball has long been the most outrageous and most fun event in Houston.  The Orange Show also host other numerous events, block parties, and more, and don't forget to visit the house that started it all...Visit http://www.orangeshow.orgThen visit every gosh darn fun art joint in Houston!  Gotta love 'em!  Laugh and learn!
